Waldhaus

41 years of Leyk:

It is a moving story that tells the roots of a small but loving company: It all began in 1981 in Aichtal, south of Stuttgart, where Ursula Leyk molded a clay toy house for her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Miriam.
Ursula Leyk enjoyed designing little houses and soon had a small village that she illuminated with tea lights.
Miriam's father was spontaneously enthusiastic and encouraged her to turn it into a small business. In 1983, she stood at the Esslingen Christmas market for the first time and was sold out two days before closing time.
So she carried on and now set up a proper company...
In 1986, their half-timbered house in Aichtal had become too small and they moved into a listed vicarage in Wörnitz on the A7, then in 1991 into a newly built production hall with a large plot of land in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
This is where the Lichthäuser workshop really blossomed and the collection became increasingly diverse and interesting. An enthusiastic collector community developed.
The gently sloping terrain in Rothenburg now got Bernd Schulz-Leyk dreaming and alongside his work in the still growing company, he gradually created the beautiful lotus garden, which was opened in 2012. Together with the popular Lotoscafé and the manufactory and gift store, it became a mecca for light house fans and garden lovers.

Unfortunately, the two founders have not found a successor for the production and are not getting any younger. As a result, production of the light houses will cease at the end of 2024, and sales are expected to stop a year later. So you only have a short time left! The offer to purchase the last models or gifts is a warm invitation to anyone who would like to be part of this story before this chapter finally comes to an end.
The cozy “Waldhaus” is the last of 120 models that the Leyk's have created in 41 years.

The Lotos garden and the café with gift store will remain and we look forward to your visit.
